Job Description:
As an intern you will be responsible for assisting the store owner in a variety of tasks including but not limited to: assisting with the creative process of product making, purchasing materials, delivering and stocking products at our other retail locations, delivering online orders, and periodically working in the store. You will learn the ins and outs of running a home decor business from the inception of the product to selling it to our clients and customers.
Position Type: Seasonal / Part-Time November 1st - January 1st
Average Hours: 15-24hrs / week
Starting Wage: $300/month stipend & degree credit
Duties and Responsibilities:
Must be able to perform the following duties;
- Deliver products to retail locations
- Purchase materials and supplies
- Assist with making products
- Deliver and/or ship online orders
- Processes customer purchases, perform general cleaning duties, stock shelves and merchandise displays neatly
- Collaborate and communicate clearly with team members
- Provide feedback on all products, inventory losses, scanning errors, and general issues
- Participate in daily inventory counts and monitor inventory for accuracy
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Ability to create and design
- Ability provide prompt and courteous customer service
- Ability to operate a cash register efficiently and accurately
- Ability to perform general cleaning duties to company standards
- Ability to interpret and apply company policies and procedures
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
- Ability to stay organized, give attention to detail, follow instructions and multi-task in a professional and efficient manner
Education & Experience:
- Prior work experience in a retail environment preferred
- Currently enrolled in or have taken design classes (fashion, graphic, fine arts, architecture, etc.)
- A combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge
